A black girl seeks a tutor, hoping a good education will help her escape from poor housing projects. Since this was a network production with all that entails concerning standards, there's no realistic-like dialogue which would probably be pretty profane concerning the students but there's still some believability in the way these pupils put themselves out there in talking about themselves. There, however, the challenge of reaching kids in an inner city school proves to be too much to resist. After thirty years teaching in London, Mark Thackeray retires and returns to Chicago. It is a sequel to the British film, To Sir, with Love. Like the first film, it deals with social issues in an inner city school. He spent twenty years teaching and ten in administrative roles. He has taught the children of his former pupils, and is now retiring.
